Chinese Flagship students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of conferences and competitions to learn more about China and its culture as well as develop professionally. A list of the major conferences and opportunities are listed below. Students may be eligible for Flagship student professional development funding to cover program costs and participation.
Professional Development
Brigham Young University Business Language Case Competition
Brigham Young University (BYU) sponsors a business language case competition in which a Chinese Flagship team competes with other teams across the country. Chinese Flagship students with advanced Chinese proficiency prepare for several months and then travel to BYU in early November to compete in the competition. Students from any major can join the team and learn valuable terminology and presentation skills in Chinese.
Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill Chinese Leadership Summit
In early April, the Chinese Leadership Summit brings together 100 undergraduates in order to develop a deeper understanding of China and more productive Sino-U.S. relations. In addition,there are multiple networking opportunities for future professional development.
